National Society for Equal Opportunities for The Handicapped, India (NASEOH, INDIA) is a NGO founded in 1968 with the initiative of Mr. Vijay Merchant, a great Indian Cricketer, Industrialist and above all a Social Worker par excellence. NASEOH is engaged in providing rehabilitation interventions, in the area of health, education, training, employment and integration. It is a registered body as a Society under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and as a Trust under Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950. NASEOH is also registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. NASEOH over the years has built strong linkages with other NGOs in this field, Corporate sector and the Government both at State and Central level and is considered as one of the pioneering institutions for the persons with disabilities in the country.

The current services of the organization consist of the following:

  • Early Intervention program for the pre-school children with special needs.
  • Integrated pre-school.
  • Health and Prevention activities through community outreach in the urban slums.
  • Rehabilitation services for the physically challenged through Physiotherapy.
  • Vocational Skill Development Program for the Adult People with Disabilities.
  • Community Based Rehabilitation Program for the rural disabled.
  • Advocacy and Awareness.
  • Placement and Income generation support.
  • Counselling.
  • Referrals.
  • Sports and recreation.
  • Recognitions and rewards for the high achievers in the field.

 

As a part of our support to social activities in India, Seth Bhojraj Hassomal Charitable Trust has partnered with NASEOH for providing therapy services-Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy & Speech therapy services to the disabled. This partnership program is in operation since the last 3 years. For the year 2019-20, the program benefited about 435 disabled persons who were provided with the therapy services. The beneficiaries were from the vocational training center, early intervention centre and orthopedic OPD.

Mayur Kamble is a 19-year-old boy from Govandi who has weakness (Paresis) in both the upper limb and is not able to lift heavy objects, not able to do fine motor or griping activities with his hands.

In Physiotherapy department he does all fine motor activities, balance and co-ordination exercise, strengthening of upper limb, brain Gym exercise etc.

He has mild improvement in his finger grip, he is able to do fine motor activities, he has gained strength in his upper limb.

Sharayu Singh is a 7-year-old boy residing at Chembur and is a case of Spastic Cerebral Palsy. He had severe spasticity on both his upper limb and lower limb, speech difficulty, mild difficulty in head holding. His limbs move in synergy. He had no grip and grasp in his hands and fingers. He also had severe lower limb muscle tightness.

In Physiotherapy department he does stretching of lower limb & upper limb, quadripod exercise, bridging, curl up, upper limb & lower limb strengthening, gross motor and fine motor activities of finger movements. Now his tightness has become less, he can hold objects on his own and do all the mobility activities.
