Area of Intervention Cancer Care- Accomodation to outstation patients Beneficiaries till date 7023

Deepsikha is a non-profit voluntary organization trying to add meaning to the lives of Cancer patients through conjoined efforts.

Following are the projects implemented by Deepsikha for the benefit of Cancer Patients.

  • Organizing Cancer screening and awareness camps.
  • Voluntary service at Tata Memorial Hospital – Help Desk cum enquiry counter.
  • Providing accommodation to needy cancer patients at Deepsikha’s four Arogya Bhawans in Navi Mumbai which includes the Assam Bhavan premises at Vashi.
  • Hospice Project for terminally ill cancer patients in the State of Assam.
  • Home for Leukaemia children in the State of Assam.
  • Rehab Centre in the State of Assam.

 

As a part of our support to social activities in India, SBHCT has partnered with Deepsikha to facilitate accommodation to the out of station cancer patients ,who come to Mumbai for their treatment. This very pressing and ever-increasing need for hygienic boarding and lodging is facilitated by proving them free dormitory accommodation at the Assam Bhavan premises in Vashi. This partnership benefits over 1600 beneficiaries every year.

Case Study

A 3-year-old male native of Barpeta, referred from Guwahati Medical College, Assam to Tata Memorial Hospital, staying at SBHCT supported Deepsikha, Aradhana Bhawan since 11th November 2017. He was referred for fatigue, high fever and nausea symptoms and treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) cancer.

At present staying at Aradhana Bhawan during his treatment at B. J. Wadia Hospital for children Parel, undergoing chemotherapy Treatment to continue for nine months period under Dr Bharat R Agarwal and Dr Mukesh Desai Patient along with attendant find it convenient as accommodation and food grains are provided free of cost and they can focus on the treatment procedure.

A 13-year-old female native of Mangaldai, from Assam referred by Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Assam to Tata Memorial Hospital was staying at SBHCT supported Deepsikha, Aradhana Bhawan. She was referred for fatigue, high fever and nausea symptoms and treated for B-Cell-Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

As per Dr Bharat R Agarwal of Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital, Parel, Mumbai her duration of treatment is 1year 6 months and her line of treatment is curative.

She has completed her 6 cycle of chemotherapy from last 8 months and recovering well, at present staying at Aradhana Bhawan.

Patient along with attendants find it convenient as accommodation and food grains are provided free of cost and they can focus on the treatment procedure.
