Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) is a Deemed to be University in the ‘de novo’ category approved by University Grants Commission. It was established in 2016, the centenary year of the founder of Chinmaya Mission, Swami Chinmayananda and approved by the UGC in January 2017. As a Deemed-to-be-University, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth will exceed excellence in higher learning and research with the objective of exploring and expanding Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and discover new ways to blend IKS with Contemporary Knowledge Systems. CVV aims to integrate the best practices of modern pedagogical advances with the beauty of the traditional gurukula model of learning. This will prepare students to address contemporary challenges, and thus inspire them to leave a positive impact on the world as confident and cultured contributors to society.

The Seth Bhojraj Hassomal Charitable Trust has associated with CVV to provide scholarship to deserving students pursuing their Masters education at the University. The profile of some students are as under

  • A high achiever girl student with a CVV Fellowship to pursue her Masters in Public Policy & Governance; this course uniquely equips students to assume leadership positions in NGOs and in the civil service.
  • A student who suddenly lost his father in his final year of BA (Sanskrit) to pursue his MA (Sanskrit) to delve into the nuances of Ayurveda as a lifestyle that can indicate new directions for people to counter lifestyle diseases that are becoming commonplace.
  • Two students whose families are facing economic difficulties to pursue MA (Applied Psychology) as they understand the mind sciences that are implicit in India’s traditional wisdom.
  • A girl student to Legal Theory as part of her LLM course – this course is the only one to trace contemporary law and jurisprudence and explore how an understanding of nītī and dharma can make for a humane legal system.
